40 days, and then some.

There is a book called The 40-day Social Media Fast by Wendy Speake.

I purchased this book in May for $2 whole dollars.
Because, let’s face it, who’s going to buy a book about Social Media fast?
I thought this would be cool to do someday.
That time is fast approaching.
I plan to start this after my Nov 22nd blog post.
This would bring me back to a blog post on Jan 3rd.
I think the Holidays seem to be a great time as any to be unplugged.

Boundaries

I plan to set boundaries this Holiday season.
Basically, movies – Hallmark Christmas Movies…one a day is plenty.
Card games over phone games.
If bored pick up a book vs my phone.
Pretending my phone is a landline, keep it connected to its charger.
Not crazy intense boundaries, but simple easy to obtain.

Distractions

Many things can lend distractions to our lives.
I’ve no doubt the internet at our fingertips is one of them.
A large one at that.

There is a saying out there.
“If only we picked up and read our bibles as often as we picked up and scrolled through our phones.”
Talk about convicting.

It seems strange to take time away from social media as a blogger.
Especially when I’d just taken the summer off to connect more with my children.
Yet, I feel like the lady in the photo above, I’m present, but distracted.
Blogging because I love sharing life with others, and I find it fun to write.
It’s not as though I’m a million followers type of gal.
I hope my blog always remains a more “lets chat about life with Emily” kind of feel.

While thinking back to the sit still blog I’d written, I remembered talking about being too busy.
There are still things that take up too much of my time.
What is life, if not a whole lot of checking and adjusting as to how we are living it?

I was reading Philippians it’s one of my top favorite books in the Bible.
It has a treasure trove of knowledge on how one should live vs how we are choosing to live.
Reading it has me feeling convicted to make a change.
What that change is yet, I have no clue, but this time free of distractions I’m hoping will bring an answer.
To be continued…
