Raise a hand if you have a hard time trusting others.
If you didn’t raise your hand I must meet you.
Because you must be the single person on the planet not raising it.

Think about it.

Basically, as a Baby – You have to have trust.
You trust someone will feed you, change you, carry you, teach you, and be there for you.
To help you learn your way in this world.
So as we age where does this trust fade?
It fades in the ways of this world and it fades in our faith.

Although we are to trust.

Trust that our friends and family will be there for us.
Trust that we won’t be navigating the world alone but with the support of others.
Trust that the government will support us as it is called to do.
Trust in the fact that we are doing the right thing because it feels good.
Trusting in our own thoughts and instincts…That’s dangerous.
It’s trusting in our feelings or trusting in the ideas of others.
These are all a kind of trust that stems from what our mind tells us to do.
Albeit, at that moment, it most often feels right, the trust.
However, the mind cannot be trusted because it’s affected mainly by what the world is telling it to trust.

I am not saying we can’t trust any of the above, we can.
I am saying when it doesn’t go as we expected or trusted it to go. We can’t really get upset because it’s none of the above that’s let us down, it’s that we are putting our trust in the world.

Explicitly we are called to trust.

Trust that the Lord will provide for us.
Trust that he will be there for us.
Trust that he will carry us.
Trust that he will be our number-one cheerleader.
Trust in him, is something we must do daily.
Trust our ability to lean on him.
Trust in him to help us understand how his grace and mercy are literally outta this world.

All of this trust – doesn’t come from us.
This trust – it’s a gift from the Lord.
Regardless of what the world is telling us, this is the trust, that we should explicitly trust.

However, it’s not in our nature to be trusting.

We are skeptical and weary of others and their actions.
The corruption of the world leads us in this direction.
A direction of being guarded, anxious, and fearful people at times.
Consequently, so much so that we draw inward.
Nowadays we have all these dandy devices that help us to do so.
They help us to feel comfortable in our solitude.

Bring it to God

Every day a quick and simple Good morning God!
Thank you for another day!
Guide me today.
Help me to learn to trust in others.
Help me remember throughout the day that I can trust in you, and lean into you.

Proverbs 3:5 Says: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Certainly, trust doesn’t come easy on our own accord.
The gift of trust, it’s given we don’t have to work for it.
We only have to have faith in it, because we have faith in Jesus.
