This one is a tough topic for me.

It is my weakest link if you will.

Sure I pray at meals and at bedtime.

And most often if I do remember it’s over my children as they sleep.

I also often ask for safety in any travel.

When I set aside time to pray it doesn’t happen.

I end up getting distracted and thinking of my day or something I need to do, or a thought that popped into my head even tho I was trying to be focused on prayer. It is true, time needs to be set aside in a day for us to pray. But a little-known secret the Lord meets us where we are. Don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t setting aside time and following through. Just talk to him. He and I have had many conversations out of my frustration, with myself.

For, not being able to stay focused during “times of prayer” so I gave up scheduling a time to do it or setting aside a specific time.

I invited the Lord into my ADD time. He now pops up when a thought crosses my mind.

Maybe I am thinking of some family friends of ours, I pray for them.

Or I think of something I’m frustrated with, I pray for that.

So on and so forth.

I began to pray in my moments of distraction. And let me tell you what, I communicate with him a lot more now than when I was trying to set aside time to do so. The beautiful thing is who we are, he already knows us and our habits. So work it out with Him! If it doesn’t happen organically it’s a lot less likely to happen. All that matters is that you connect and it’s real! PS if it’s fake or you aren’t “feeling” it that day due to whatever worldly distraction has you preoccupied- He knows. So keep it real and make it count!
