We all found our own way to cope during the pandemic I suppose.
Sometimes in life when so much is spiraling out of control around me with nothing to do about it.
I find what I can do to take some control of the situation.
This is a very unhealthy habit. Yet I own it as something I am working on.
However, in this instance I am glad I took action.
When the pandemic lockdown began I took to researching.
Everyone who seemed to get covid had a whirlwind going on inside of their bodies.
This in turn got me thinking about what we put into our bodies and the state of their health.
My wonderful husband rolled with it. Even letting me purge all of our cleaning products for new ones.
I’d had a friend post about this app called think dirty.
It takes your household products and tells you if they’re good or bad for you.
What I love about it, it shows each ingredient broken down in a system of green, yellow, and red.
It was insanely eye-opening. I found our new household cleaning product through that site.
I’m super excited to find that they now have glass bottles when I first started with them they were plastic.
When you decide to go toxin free you have to want it, do your own research, and see what works for you.
I am here to talk about it if you’d like. I’ve also linked everything in orange as the product our family uses.
As I’ve already found them on either think dirty or EWG and know they are clean.
With that being said, be careful, some items like Seventh Generation are pure and clean, and some are less so.
Something to remember, all body chemistry is different so what might sit well with mine, might not with yours.
You may have some trial and error as you’re learning.
On the off chance, you want to try branch basics here is their website.
Cleaning products were my first purge.
There are a few types out there. Grove Co. Is a popular one. You have to pick and choose as not all of their stuff is in the green.
Branch Basics is one concentrate split different ways, and all green!
Purge the pandemic Away
The next step for me was laundry detergent (you can use branch basics) I chose: seventh generation
I stopped because they were always out of stock. I switched over to earthley. Which I’ve been using ever since.
Earthley is another non-toxic wellness site I talk about some of their stuff in this blog.
After the laundry was the bathroom: toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo/Conditioner, and Styling product.
The kids use Tom’s toothpaste as well, kid flavors.
Along with the bathroom came a healthier face routine. I talk about that and those products in my blog Face Time.
Purge the plastic.
Even if it says “safe” plastic leaches chemicals over time.
Granted we’ve grown up with plastic all around us our whole lives.
Bodies only work harder as they age so why not help them out a little more?
I will one day have a blog that goes into further detail on plastics.
Our family stopped using them in as many places as possible.
For our health and for the environment. We replaced all of the kid’s water bottles. These ones are my go to!
They have a lid to keep the spout from other germs. We remove the straws. Older kids get bigger ones.
Trashing Toxins is a work in progress.
Everything I read said to start slow don’t do it all at once.
We still have plastic in our house, you do what you can!
We’ve started to pay attention not only to ourselves but also to the environment around us.
Like no longer buying polyester anything because the fabric doesn’t break down making it toxic to the earth.
Another great website is EWG
This site is the Environmental Working Group.
They have a system a lot like think dirty.
It helps you find healthier products for your home and for the environment.
Take action – Toss those Toxins in the Trash, You’ll feel lighter!
